SHCGB Bulletin Board Guidelines / Terms of Service
Welcome to the Siberian Husky Club of GB Bulletin Board: All Members Please Read
On behalf of the SHCGB, the largest and most active Siberian Husky Breed Club in the UK, we welcome you to SHCGB Bulletin Board. As with any large community, we ask that everyone follow TOS (Terms of Service) which are a set of guidelines and rules for everyone to follow. Some situations require judgement calls, and may not be spelled out in the terms of service. This service is provided free of charge by Guy Redwood.
Full use of the facility is only available to current members of the SHCGB. To find out more about joining the SHCGB, please click here. Non members are invited to register and use the SibeWorld Board which is open to guests. Only members of the SHCGB will be considered for full access to this service, Membership of the SHCGB is not a guarantee of being granted access to this service.
Please use your full name as your chosen login name. Affixes or nick names will not be accepted. You are registering as yourself, e.g. Bob Jones would have a login name of bobjones or bob jones.
With this user account you are about to register, you agree to never give your password out to another person except an administrator, for your protection and for validity reasons. You also agree to NEVER use another person's account for any reason. We also HIGHLY recommend you use a complex and unique password for your account, to prevent account theft.
If you're new to our bulletin board, jump right in. If you're an "old-timer," please greet newcomers and help them feel at home. This website is here for club members, and we want it to be comfortable, thought provoking, helpful, safe, and easy to use.
There's no such thing as a dumb question or posting. Feel free to share your thoughts, ideas, and fears. Supporting one another is a big part of what the Siberian Husky Club of Great Britain is about.
You agree, through your use of this forum, that you will not post any material which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, adult material, or otherwise in violation of any International or United States Federal law. You also agree not to post any copyrighted material unless you own the copyright or you have written consent from the owner of the copyrighted material. Spam, flooding, advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are also forbidden on this forum.
Note that it is impossible for the staff or the owners of this forum to confirm the validity of posts. Please remember that we do not actively monitor the posted messages, and as such, are not responsible for the content contained within. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any information presented. The posted messages express the views of the author, and not necessarily the views of this forum, its staff, its subsidiaries, or this forum's owner. Anyone who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to notify an administrator or moderator of this forum immediately. The staff and the owner of this forum reserve the right to remove objectionable content, within a reasonable time frame, if they determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, please realize that they may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately. This policy applies to member profile information as well.
You remain solely responsible for the content of your posted messages. Furthermore, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the owners of this forum, any related websites to this forum, its staff, and its subsidiaries. The owners of this forum also reserve the right to reveal your identity (or any other related information collected on this service) in the event of a formal complaint or legal action arising from any situation caused by your use of this forum.
Please note that with each post, your IP address is recorded, in the event that you need to be banned from this forum or your ISP contacted. This will only happen in the event of a major violation of this agreement.
Also note that the software places a cookie, a text file containing bits of information (such as your username and password), in your browser's cache. This is ONLY used to keep you logged in/out. The software does not collect or send any other form of information to your computer.
The Basic Terms of Service
Please bear in mind that what you read on our bulletin boards are other users' opinions and stories. We trust you'll find much that is helpful and informative, but please consult your vet or other professional advisors before relying on any information you find here. The Siberian Husky Club of Great Britain (SHCGB) is not responsible for the accuracy of any posts and is not liable for any damage or loss that may result from your reliance on what other users have said.
You acknowledge that all bulletin board posts, are not private communications. You grant the SHCGB the right to modify and publish, both on our site and in other media, any information you post on the bulletin board.
You agree that the SHCGB has the right to delete or edit any post and ban a user with or without notice, at any time and for any reason, including, without limitation, our judgement that you've violated the bulletin board guidelines. You also acknowledge that we have no obligation to delete content that you find personally objectionable or offensive.
Your identity Your identity needs to be clear from the name and email address you use in all posts to the bulletin board. If your email address changes during your period of membership, please update your profile to reflect this. If we find that the email address listed in your profile is no longer valid, we will de-activate your account.
Privacy Never provide any passwords, telephone numbers, or home address to anyone online. Be very careful about responding to solicitations for interviews or research. Give out your e-mail address only if you want to receive e-mail. If you post your e-mail address on the site, you've made it public and given other users tacit permission to contact you.
Never divulge private information about another person online. That includes the e-mail address and any other personal information that the user has not made public. Don't forward or post private messages that someone has sent you unless you have his or her permission. Please don't solicit other people's personal information.
You agree that this is a private bulletin board and content is to be read by registered members only. This means that you are not allowed to quote any information from this board without the explicit permission of the webmaster.
Advertising or Self Promotion: We do not allow any form of commercial advertising in the bulletin board post, avatars, or signatures. We also do not allow any promotion of organisations/schemes that may divert attention/funds away from the SHCGB. This includes using your avatar or signature to link to other websites or promotional messages that are advertising in nature.
Please do not post any messages anywhere on this site that are primarily for the promotion or advertising of any website, forums, email address, business, MLM, activity, or other entities that you have an affiliation with (ie. no self-promotion).
Signatures and profiles must only contain details of personal (not commercial, sponsored etc) husky websites. Where a signature/profile links to a personal website, this website must display a clear link back to the Siberian Husky Club of GB Website.
If you are interested in advertising to our audience, please consider supporting the world famous Aviemore Rally.
Other Clubs, Events and Organisations This BB is here for the discussion of the Siberian husky, the SHCGB and Kennel Club licensed Shows. Judging information regarding Open Shows should be confined to our B & C list Judges only. We do not allow any posts discussing other organisations, clubs or events without agreement from the webmaster. If you wish to discuss other organisations, we suggest you use their bulletin board facilities. We'll delete posts that, in our judgement, mention or link to our competitors for the purpose of cannibalising our community. If you wish to suggest a site we should link to, please use this page.
Linking to websites / Solicitations: We do not allow any self promotional post announcing websites to gain exposure, it does not matter if it is non-profit. It is against board rules to invite, solicit or coerce others to join other community websites through posts, email, PM, use of the SHCGB membership list or any other resource within the SHCGB website. We allow linking to other information websites, as long as it is for informational purposes and not for self promotion advertisement. We may remove or edit links at our discretion.
Copyrighted Material: No "spreading of copyrighted Material": Please do not upload, attach or post anything that is copyright or licensed without prior consent of the owner. For example, if you want to post content from an online article, do not post the whole article, post a partial synopsis, and then a link to the source.
English Language Only While this bulletin board hosts visitors from around the world, it is based in the UK and much of our membership is English speaking. Due to our inability to moderate threads in other languages, we ask that interactions be in English for the enjoyment of as many posters as possible.
Please do not type entirely in capitals as considered shouting on the Internet! Along with using proper English spelling and punctuation, this shows respect for the owner, other bulletin board members and makes it easier to read your important thoughts.
Public Disagreements with Administration, Committee or Guidelines or SHCGB You agree that if you disagree with our website policy or action of a website team member, you will not post arguments or disagreements nor attempt to petition the owner/administration to change policy through posts, polls, email, PM or any other service found within this Website. If you disagree, you may respectfully post your comments in private to webteam@siberianhuskyclub.com.
Disabling/editing of posts/users: The web team reserves the right to edit/remove the posts and/or disable the account of any member who does not comply with these community guidelines or any reason deemed appropriate by the administration for the good of the community and its safety. Requests for removal will entail removing personal data, location, avatar, etc,. to protect the privacy of the person but the member account will remain intact because of the nature of the threading of posts within the database.
Freedom of Speech? Although we encourage the discussion of all things husky, we will not tolerate any postings that are deemed to be divisive or counter-productive to the work of the SHCGB. The TOS/Guidelines of this website governs the behaviours and activities of the bulletin board members. If you choose not to follow the guidelines agreed to during registration, the result is a disabling of your account.
Debates We promote the idea of lively debate. This means you are free to disagree with anyone on any type of subject matter as long as your criticism is constructive and polite.
Personal Attacks Our first priority is to the members that have come here because of the flame-free atmosphere we provide. There is a zero-tolerance policy here against personal attacks. We will not tolerate anyone insulting another individual's opinion nor name calling and will BAN repeat offenders.
How to Handle Personal Attacks or Objectionable Material Is Seen If you are ever in a position where you feel you have been personally attacked, do not respond to that attack. Please report the post using "Report this post to a Moderator" link found in right hand corner of each post. Let us deal with the problem. If you respond to that attack, you may find yourself removed as well, and we don't want to see that happen.
Considering the real-time nature of this bulletin board, it is impossible for us to review all messages. Please remember that we do not actively monitor the contents of posted messages and are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of this BB or any entity associated with this BB. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately using the report button or by email. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.
Foul Language Contrary to popular belief, this is not a public board. You are all guests here. We have the right to edit posts that violate our forum guidelines or remove board members at any time. Nothing should ever be posted here that you would not say in front of a crowd of strangers. Don't post anything distasteful or anything you feel might offend someone else.
As many of you know, in addition to the discussions we have for our own benefit, we also present a showcase to the lurkers and fence-sitters. We do have a word filter which will catch a few foul terms, but it is not the solution nor should it be the solution.
Using faintly disguised obscenities with creative or phonetic spelling basically shows disrespect for your hosts. We are here voluntarily, including the moderators and the forum admins. Please show your appreciation for the venue we provide.
If it is not deliberate disrespect for the others, then it could be the inability to express a thought without spicing it indiscriminately with foul language. While strong words have their place and time, a public forum in which polite conduct has been requested is not the time or the place for them.
Multiple Accounts Creation of secondary accounts is not allowed. All members must post under their own login account. Use of multiple accounts by the same member is not permitted, and one or all accounts may be banned or suspended without notice. If you have three people in you household using the bulletin board, then you will need three separate login accounts.
Expectations of the Members Though we certainly are a little stricter here than other husky boards, I think you'll agree that it is necessary when dealing with such a large membership. We can guarantee that most of you will never even realize there are guidelines here. You will enjoy a great deal of freedom here, with the ability to freely debate upon a number of subjects, as long as you remain civil and polite to each other.
This website is one of the most highly respected within the husky community and is listed as a resource in canine publications and at other dog related websites. We didn't get to that status without the professional and courteous contributions of our membership.
Kind regards
The SHCGB Web Team.
