Endorsements on the Kennel Club Registration Certificate
You will see on the certificate two endorsements which say "Not eligible for issue of an export pedigree" and "progeny not eligible for registration".
These endorsements are placed on the registration to protect the dog and can only be removed at the request of the breeder.
The export pedigree endorsement means that the breeder does not want a dog they have bred to be exported without their knowledge.
The progeny not eligible for registration endorsement is a safeguard against undesireable breeding. There may be good reason why a dog should not be used for breeding eg a hereditary defect, or it may not be of sufficiently high quality. The endorsement also ensures that potential breeding stock are hip scored and eye tested. Unless this is done and the results are satisfactory the endorsements will not be lifted, for the good to the dog and the breed. These hip scores and eye test results are also useful to other breeders when planning breeding programmes and are therefore useful and beneficial to the whole breed.
