Grimsthorpe Estate Rally 2003
Date: 15 Feb. 2003
A chilly -6 Friday evening prepared an almost perfect trail for Saturday's 9.30am start.
Our fifth year of organising Grimsthorpe Estate Rally was enjoyable as ever. 97 competitors running in D, D2, E and C Classes experienced this year's 3.2 mile trail. As no entries for B Class were received by the closing date, we dropped this class (Please get your entries in earlier next year!) The trail was fairly dry considering the amount of rainfall during the weeks running up to this rally. The ford provided a shallow paddle for all competitors and an offer of a 'Car Wash' so we believe! Saturday evening's social bar-b-que in the courtyard was appreciated by many. The presentation was hosted by Mr Ray Biggs, Access Manager, who later thanked the Club for leaving the Estate clean and tidy.
The only down side to the rally was the unauthorised use of the Estate's 'Pressure Washer' for 'Rig' cleaning. Ray informed us that 25 litres of Industrial Grade Cleaning Chemical was used. For this privilege, a charge of 75 pounds was added to our site fee. (This facility will not be available next year.)
Our grateful Thanks to friends, family and all who marshalled. We could not run this rally without your help xxxx
We hope many (if not all!) of you will return next year for this relaxing 'Fun' weekend'
