Sherwood Pines Rally 2003
Date: 5 Jan. 2003
A Run in the Sun
Aptly titled, though there were some doubters; the sun shone for most of the day, keeping the temperature hovering around freezing point.
85 entries in all and although there were some icy patches, we managed to keep to the course originally planned - unlike last year when there were five changes before the first competitor started out.
The ground was very hard, resulting in a few cut feet but nothing too serious unless anyone wants to tell us otherwise(?).
Everyone seemed happy with the course - would you like to run it in reverse direction next year or the same as this year? - let us know. This year's courses were 4.2 miles and 3.6 (give or take a bit - someone clocked it surely!) - do you want it longer or shorter? - let us know, we aim to please!
To have the start and finish areas as we did this year was a special concession from the Forestry Commission. To get the same concession in future years depended on the state in which we left the race site on both days. Having had a gripe about the doggy doo bags on Saturday night, we have to say that the site on Sunday was left clean and tidy, giving no cause for complaint - congratulations, everyone.
Finally, once again thanks to the usual people, Bill, Keith and all the rest.
