SHCGB Open Show - Woking 2001
Date: 9 Sep. 2001

At last, September had arrived! Club show time again! This was supposed to be the second of the two Club open shows, but due to the foot and mouth crisis, the Woking show was actually the first.

The show day dawned bright and clear, ideal showing weather for Siberians. Two large rings were set up outside the Woking leisure centre. Thanks must go to the ring stewards for their hard work throughout the day. Firstly, Andy Noble and Dave Williams in the dog ring, and Allan and Anthony Rees for the bitches.

Our judge for dogs this year was Sarah Robinson of the Rigrunner affix. Bruce Hall, of the well known Aceca affix, presided over the bitches.

Sarah has competed at the highest level in the showring, making up her first homebred Champion this year. She is also the owner and handler of another champion bitch, namely, Ch. Skiivolk Foolish Panda of Koryaks. Sarah is currently the treasurer of the SHCGB.

Bruce, I’m sure, needs no introduction. Along with Lyn, he has bred many top quality dogs, including numerous champions - the most well known being Ch.Aceca’s American Pie, one of the top winning piebalds of all time in the UK

Sarah had a nice entry of 73 from 59 dogs. Her choice for best dog was Sue and Jackie Sercombe’s grey boy, Trelowen Calan. Handled to perfection by Jackie, he really showed himself off to sweep all the competition aside, which included an open class with an entry that had won 13 CC’s between them! Reserve best dog went to a youngster, namely, the Hemmin’s Eekonoo’s Zefram Cochrane. Both dogs have won consistently throughout the year, and this was certainly their day.

Bruce received an entry of 105 from 85 bitches. There were some lovely bitches to be seen! Best bitch was the Coldham’s grey Arctictrek Snow Maiden, who is out of Ch Forstal’s Nikolaas. Reserve best bitch was Chris Barry and Andrew Grisbrookes piebald Azgard Valkyran Vision – a winner of several RCC’s this year. Both bitches looked great on the move, and showed their socks off.

For BIS, the two judges moved the best dog and bitch winner around, and finally agreed on the dog, Calan. RBIS went to the bitch winner. Both looked a credit to their owners. Well done!

Best puppy in show was won by Wolfsong Midnightdrifter.

A great day all round, and thanks to everyone that made the day go so smoothly. We now look forward to the Northern show. If you’ve never been, do come along. The shows are great fun, and you meet lots of other Sibe owners. See you there!
