Clocaenog Sunday Trek 2004
North Wales - Trek - across the road from previous day rally
Date: 22 Feb. 2004
This is the second time we will be holding the Trek on behalf of the SHC of GB. We hope to make the Trek a distance of at least ten to twelve miles for teams of two to six dogs. Passengers are only allowed with teams of four or more. This is not a timed event. The Trek will incorporate a treasure hunt and maybe one or two surprises along the way! The first part of the trail will be marked out so that the dogs can release some energy and there are no sudden surprises for the mushers to begin with. Please remember this event is for the enjoyment of the dogs and consideration should be given to your dogs and other teams.

| Notes |
|
The Trek will begin as soon as possible after the Sprint Races. All mushers entering the Trek should be at the site before the Sprint Races begin as you may be called upon to help marshal the Sprint. The Trek Mushers Meeting is compulsory and Club Rally Rules apply.
EQUIPMENT:
The following equipment is compulsory due to fast changing weather conditions.
1. Weather proof jacket
2. Bowl & water sufficient for the size of your team
3. Dog bag for any emergencies (it may be a long way to the nearest marshal).
4. Snub line of at least 8 metres to be released by musher
5. Spare dog lead
6. A means of protecting your map (map supplied at the mushers meeting) against inclement weather so that you are still able to read it.
7. A whistle.
This equipment will be checked and any musher not having the equipment will not be allowed to start. You will need a rucksack to carry the equipment as a dog bag must be functional.
Additional equipment recommended:
1. Warm clothing
2. Food/drink for the musher
3. Compass
4. Puncture repair kit
5. Spare dog boots (if used)
6. Extra snub line to secure your dogs when resting.
The times for rig/equipment inspection and mushers meeting will be found on the notice board on the day.
Remember, dogs can only run once each day (except junior events).
Those entering the trek will be respectfully asked to be at the venue by 0930 hrs to help marshal etc the sprint. If, for any genuine reason, you will be late please notify the organisers prior to the weekend. |
