Trentham Twilight Toddle
Once again we have been fortunate to secure a venue at Trentham Gardens, Trentham, Stone Road, Staffordshire. Please keep it tidy. Please clean up after yourselves and your dogs, use the bins provided

No more than 3 miles, of good quality surface, mainly flat, very picturesque, running along a lake and then turning up hill onto a grassy woodland trail.

Directions   From the North and South:
Leave at Junction 15 of the M6. Turn onto the A500 sign posted for Stoke-on-Trent, Stone and Uttoxeter. Leave at first junction following signs for A34. At large roundabout follow signpost for A34 turning towards Stone and Trentham. On the A34 go straight on at first set of traffic lights, after approximately 1 mile get into right hand lane until you get to a large set of traffic lights at Trentham, turn right at lights onto Whitmore Road and follow the signs for Caravan/Camping. Follow road round following signs for Trentham Caravan/Camping, hopefully we will be able to display some SHCGB signs along this road. Turn into Trentham Caravan/Camping site and follow road until you reach the rally site.
     
Amenities   Toilets, showers and children's play area. The 'Towbar' and cafe will unfortunately be closed this year, so bring your own beer. We will hopefully have a burger van on site.

Notes   Marshals: This event will require volunteer Marshals. Failing this, the last entrants in each class WILL be required to Marshal, time keep, etc.

A reflective number will be fitted to the rig at the inspection. Yellow for 4-dog, White for 2-dog. If your rig is to be used for different classes, please inform the Scrutineer

1. All dogs must be kept on leads al all times and should wear identification tags. No teams are allowed on the trail except at their allocated time

2. RIGS MUST BE EQUIPPED WITH A LAMP sufficiently powerful to illuminate an area in front of the dogs far enough ahead for safe progress to be made. A car spotlight is

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT WET CELL CAR BATTERIES ARE NO LONGER ALLOWED, AN ALTERNATIVE SUPPLY OF POWER MUST BE USED - EG A POWER PACK. Connections to batteries must be at least crimped or soldered terminals, secure enough not to become detached should the rig need to be turned over. Tape must be applied to any glass lamps, but plastic lens are preferable. A back-up torch must be carried, preferably of the 'petzle' headlamp type.

Your local burglar alarm company may be able to assist with cheap dry cell batteries alternatively all branches of City Electrical Factors stock Challenger AA53 (6.5 amp) batteries at the cost of £14. 67 plus VAT

3. TRAIL MARKERS will be reflective. Yellow markers will be positioned just before the turns. Yellow Marker on the left, turn left, Yellow Marker on the right, turn right. Just after the turn, two White Markers will be positioned either side of the track. Go between the two White Markers.

4. SCRUTlNEERlNG. For reasons of safety, this will be strict. Special equipment - as stated - must be carried and in working order Faulty rigs, brakes, lights etc, will mean that you will not be able to start. It is in your interest to ensure that all your equipment is in good working order.

5. This rally is to be held on Saturday 26th October 2002, the "Teach In" will be held on Sunday 27th October 2002. Anyone wishing to run their dogs on the course on Sunday must do so before 12 noon for a donation towards Welfare. The beginners will be running a course starting at approximately 12 noon. It will be greatly appreciated if you can stay on to help with the beginners. Please note that a fire works display is likely to be taking place on the Sunday evening, therefore everyone will need to leave the rally site before Sunday evening.

IF YOU HAVE NOT RACED AT A RALLY BEFORE THEN YOU CANNOT TREAT THE NIGHT RALLY AS YOUR FIRST RACE - SO AS TO AVOID ANY UNNECESSARY ACCIDENTS.

Please note, hopefully, it will be dark again - particularly in the trees! If you want to go faster, please ensure that you have adequate lighting fitted.
